Welcome to another week of the Secret Wars! It’s a slow week in the Battleworld, but I’ve found three stories to talk about.
Let’s kick off with Star-Lord and Kitty Pryde. Captured by Gambit and chained up by a robot called Widget, who happens to be another alternate universe’s Kitty Pryde, which means that a song is all Peter Quill needs to get them free. Of course, things take a few steps back when Gambit returns, and then really get worse when Doom appears.
Let’s go back to the beginning of the Secret Wars with Last Days of the Silver Surfer. When all of reality was destroyed, Norrin Radd and Dawn Greenwood escaped through a tear in reality and into a plane of non existence, where they were offered the opportunity to ally with the Shaper of Worlds to bring reality back.
Sounds good, right? Except that they don’t really know enough, and their lack of knowledge gets in the way leading to a deeply flawed universe that can only be created by conflicting wishes. Will they be able to bring everything back? Is this really the way that the end of everything is fixed? We’ll have to keep reading.
Finally, Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies rounds up its side story with Hank Pym figuring out a solution to the problem of hybrid Zombie-Ultrons while Zombie Magneto and Ultron discuss their emotions (yes really. Read it). The only problem is that Pym’s solution calls for the death of The Vision, Jim Hammond, and Simon Williams. This trio of heroes only have a short time to make their final goodbyes before they’re called to sacrifice themselves to save the ones they love.
The ending to this story is unexpected. Definitely worth reading.
I’m ready for more story from the Secret Wars, though. The slowdown this week may herald a final push for the core story.
What’s been your highlight of the Secret Wars so far?
